Tom Velken has served as a principal at Viking Real Estate Group since establishing the business in 1995. His real estate career has involved acquiring, developing, and financing millions of dollars’ worth of commercial and residential real estate. In the past, he has worked for Catellus Development Corporations (which involved managing 2 million acres of land valued at $2.7 billion) and Inverness Real Estate Investments (on whose behalf he completed more than 250 real estate transactions valued at over $200 million). Tom Velken has also worked as senior financial analyst for Cushman and Wakefield.
Tom Velken studied history and geology as an undergraduate at Franklin Marshall College. He holds a history degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and continues to increase his education in real estate investment analysis, corporate finance, and macroeconomics. He is a supporter of charitable organizations, including the Interfaith Housing Council, Moment By Moment, Community Foundation of Lafayette and a member of professional groups such as the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the California Association of Mortgage Professionals. His personal interests include skiing, deep-sea fishing and wild boar hunting.
